Terms of service
Last updated: September 23, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Highcard (highcard.app) for the Highcard browser extension and the service behind it. By creating an account or using the extension, you accept them. If you don't agree with something here, don't use Highcard.
1. The service
Highcard reads the job posting you have open on a supported site, finds hiring managers and recruiters at that employer, works out likely work email addresses, drafts an intro email from your resume using AI, and sends it from your own Gmail account.
- Contact details come from third-party data providers and from publicly visible professional profiles. We don't create them and we can't guarantee them. Names, titles, employers, locations and email addresses may be wrong, incomplete or out of date: a person may have changed jobs, and an inferred email address may not exist. Check before you rely on anything.
- We don't promise results. Nobody is obliged to reply to you. Highcard does not guarantee a reply, an interview, or a job.
- The extension works on the sites listed in our Privacy Policy. Those sites can change at any time, which can break a search.
2. Your account
- Give accurate account details, including a real email address you control.
- An account is for one person. Don't share it, sell it, or let a team work out of it.
- Keep your password safe. You're responsible for what happens under your account. Email us if you think someone else has got in.
- You can connect up to 5 browsers to your account at once. Connecting a sixth signs out the one you've used least recently.
3. Acceptable use
- No spam and no bulk unsolicited mail. Highcard is for writing to people about a specific job you are applying to, one at a time. It is not a cold-outreach or mailing-list tool.
- Follow the law where you and your recipient are, including CAN-SPAM in the US, CASL in Canada, and the GDPR and ePrivacy rules in the EU and UK. That includes having a lawful basis to email someone, identifying yourself honestly, and stopping when someone asks you to.
- Don't scrape, crawl, resell, or automate the service, and don't try to get around plan limits or access accounts or data that aren't yours.
- Don't resell or redistribute the contact data you get from Highcard, publish it, or load it into another product or list.
- Respect the terms of the job boards and recruiting sites you browse. LinkedIn, Indeed and the applicant-tracking sites are each governed by their own rules, and your account with them is your responsibility.
- Don't abuse the contact lookups: no running searches for employers you aren't applying to, no mass lookups, and no using them to build a database of people.
Breaking these rules is the fastest way to lose your account.
4. Emails you send
- Emails go from your own Gmail account, through Google's Gmail API, with permission you grant and can revoke. We do not send mail on your behalf from our servers.
- You are the sender. You are responsible for the content of every message and for who receives it, including whether it was appropriate to contact that person at all.
- Open tracking is on by default. It adds an invisible image to your email and tells you when the message was opened. You can turn it off with the Email Tracking switch in the extension's Email tab, and you should turn it off if the law that applies to you requires consent for it. How it works and what we store is described in the Privacy Policy.
- AI drafts are suggestions. They can be wrong, generic or awkward. Read and edit every draft before you send it; what goes out is yours.
5. Plans, payment and cancellation
- Pro ($23/month, 75 contact searches) and Max ($49/month, 500 contact searches) are monthly subscriptions. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that applies to you.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details never reach our servers. Stripe's own terms apply to the payment itself.
- Your subscription renews each month until you cancel. Your search counter resets at the start of each month; unused searches don't roll over.
- Cancel any time by emailing info@highcard.app. We'll cancel the subscription so it doesn't renew, and you keep your plan until the end of the period you've already paid for. After that your account returns to the free plan.
- No prorated refunds by default for the unused part of a month. If you think a refund is fair, email info@highcard.app and we'll look at it. There is no self-serve refund button. A full refund returns the account to the free plan straight away.
- If you dispute a charge with your bank, we may return the account to the free plan while it is resolved.
- Failed payments: Stripe retries a declined card for a few days. Your plan keeps working during the retries; if the subscription ends unpaid, the account returns to the free plan.
- Price changes are announced by email before they take effect, and apply from your next billing period. Cancel before it renews if you don't want the new price.
6. Free trial
A new account gets 5 contact searches, with no card. They are a one-off allowance for the life of the account, not a monthly one. When they're used up, the extension points you here to upgrade. One trial per person; making extra accounts to get more free searches is abuse under section 3.
7. Your data
What we collect, who processes it and how long we keep it is in the Privacy Policy, which is part of this agreement. If you appear in someone's search results and want your details removed from our records, email info@highcard.app and we'll delete them.
8. Availability and changes
Highcard is a young product and parts of it are beta quality. We may add, change or remove features, and we may pause or discontinue the service. There is no uptime guarantee: the extension depends on job sites, data providers, Google and Stripe, any of which can fail or change without warning. If we discontinue a paid plan we'll tell you and stop billing you.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Highcard is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of contact data, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, for lost opportunities, lost jobs, lost data or lost profits, or for anything that happens because a contact detail was wrong or an email reached the wrong person. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the fees you paid us in the 3 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits; where that is true, they apply only as far as the law permits, and nothing here removes rights you have that can't be waived.
10. Termination
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, abuses the service, doesn't pay, or puts us at legal risk, immediately if the abuse is serious. You can delete your account at any time from the account dashboard. Deleting it cancels any active subscription immediately, so you are not billed again; it is permanent, it ends your plan on the spot, and it does not refund the part of the current period you've already paid for. To keep your plan until the period ends, cancel first (section 5) and delete later. Sections 3, 7, 9 and 11 survive the end of this agreement.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada (and the federal laws of Canada that apply there), and the courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. This doesn't take away consumer rights you have where you live.
12. Changes to these terms
If these terms change materially, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and tell account holders by email. Continuing to use Highcard after a change means you accept the new terms; if you don't, cancel and stop using the service.
